Frequently Asked Questions

Booking with us is simple and convenient. We've provided answers to some common questions to help improve your experience with Fish Nashville. If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to give us a call.
1What should I bring on the fishing trip?
Please bringing a valid fishing license, sunscreen, snacks, drinks, towels, and weather-appropriate clothing. Fishing equipment is provided, but feel free to bring your own. Our fishing trips include all necessary gear: rods, reels, tackle, and bait. We also provide a cooler with ice, life jackets, and fish cleaning services.
2Do I need a fishing license?
Yes, all anglers 13 years and older are required to have a valid Tennessee fishing license. You can purchase one online through the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) website or at local retailers
3How long are the fishing trips?
Our standard trips last 4-6 hours, depending on the season and customer preferences. Half-day and full-day trips are available. Please inquire about specific trip durations when booking.
4Are children and families welcome?
Absolutely! Fishing is a great family activity, and we love teaching kids the thrill of catching fish. Just let us know the ages of your children when booking, and we’ll make sure we have everything ready for them. All of our services offer packages suitable for children and families.
5What if the weather is bad?
Safety is our top priority. If the weather conditions are unsafe (lightning, high winds, etc.), we will reschedule your trip for another day. If the weather is less than ideal but safe, we will still fish. Be prepared for changing weather conditions, especially in the cooler months.
6What is the best time of year to go fishing in Nashville?
Spring is universally hailed as the prime season for crappie fishing, Summer, and Fall are great for catching Bass, while Winter is ideal for stocked Rainbow Trout. However, our guides operate year-round and adapt to seasonal fishing conditions. We love to catch Hybrids and Striped Bass! They are productive year-round, but the fall and winter months (September–March) offer some of the best opportunities as the fish school up and move into deeper waters. The cooler water temperatures trigger active feeding, making it a great time to catch larger fish
7What’s your cancellation policy?
ALL PURCHASES MADE ARE COMPLETE AND FINAL. Cancellations made more than 21 days before your scheduled trip will result in a 100% refund. In the event of cancellation between 8 to 20 days prior, you can either reschedule your trip or receive a gift card worth 100% of the purchase price, with no expiration date and is transferable to others. Weather-related cancellations will be compensated with a 100% valued gift card, allowing guests to reschedule at their convenience. Tours will be halted immediately if illegal drugs are used or alcohol is consumed by a minor, with no refunds provided.
8Will the guide clean and package the fish?
Fish cleaning and packaging services can be included for a small fee and can be added at checkout.
9What types of fish can we expect to catch?
In the Nashville area, you can expect to catch species such as Bass (both Smallmouth and Largemouth), Hybrid Striped Bass, Catfish, Crappie, and Rainbow Trout depending on the season and location. Fall and winter months are especially productive for hybrids and stripers.
10What types of boats are used?
Various boats are used depending on the service and type of fishing, including bass boats, pontoon boats, drift boats, and jet boats. Most boats are equipped with modern electronics to enhance the fishing experience.
11Do I need any prior fishing experience?
