What types of fish can I expect to catch?
At Percy Priest Lake, we primarily target hybrid striped bass (hybrids) and stripers. Depending on the season, you may also catch white bass, catfish, and other species. Fall and winter months are especially productive for hybrids and stripers.
What is included in the fishing trip?
Our fishing trips include all necessary gear: rods, reels, tackle, and bait. We’ll also provide life jackets and fish cleaning services. Just bring yourself, appropriate clothing, and any snacks or drinks you want for the day.
Do I need a fishing license?
Yes, all anglers 13 years and older are required to have a valid Tennessee fishing license. You can purchase one online through the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) website or at local retailers.
What should I bring on the trip?
We recommend bringing: - A valid fishing license - Weather-appropriate clothing (it can get cool on the water) - Sunglasses (polarized if possible) - Sunscreen and a hat - Snacks, drinks, and any personal items you need We provide all the fishing gear, so no need to bring your own unless you prefer to.
What’s the best time of year to fish for hybrids and stripers?
Fishing for hybrids and stripers is productive year-round, but the fall and winter months (September–March) offer some of the best opportunities as the fish school up and move into deeper waters. The cooler water temperatures trigger active feeding, making it a great time to catch larger fish.
How long is a typical trip?
Our standard trips last 4-6 hours, depending on the season and customer preferences. Half-day and full-day trips are available. Please inquire about specific trip durations when booking.
How many people can join a trip?
We can accommodate up to 6 anglers per trip. If you have a larger group, contact us in advance and we can make special arrangements or recommend options.
What if the weather is bad?
Safety is our top priority. If the weather conditions are unsafe (lightning, high winds, etc.), we will reschedule your trip for another day. If the weather is less than ideal but safe, we will still fish. Be prepared for changing weather conditions, especially in the cooler months.
Do you offer gift certificates?
Yes! Gift certificates are available and make great gifts for the fishing enthusiast in your life. Contact us to purchase one.
What techniques do you teach during the trip?
We specialize in various techniques for hybrids and stripers, including trolling crankbaits, using A-rigs, jigging spoons, and fishing with live bait (though live bait can be less effective in certain seasons). Our guide will teach you how to adapt your approach to the season and water conditions to increase your chances of success.
